it's not what you say, it's what you do

i got this piece of advice (among many) from the last lecture - google last lecture and cmu, you will find it.

he heard this advice from an admin at cmu. basically she had guys all figured out. ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.

i completely agree. effort counts.

time to get a new phone

my 2 year contract has expired on at&t and it's time for a new gadget!

iphone, samsung blackjack, bb curve, or keep things status quo and just get a regular phone as i wait for either the next gen iphone or the google phone.

i've been waiting for the next gen iphone for what seems like an eternity. however, once it's out, i think it'll be too expensive and my chinese cheap genes will prevail. so that's out for now.

but will that mean the regular iphone will reduce in price? hrmmmm
i love the look and feel of the iphone. but in all actuality, i don't text or surf the web on the phone as much as i talk. and with all that talking, i drop my phone a lot. i would be miserable if i dropped the iphone and it broke.

the samsung blackjack is available on amazon for -$50. that means after purchasing the phone, i will have an extra 50 dollars in my pocket! chinese cheap genes rejoice! however...not so fast. with the smart phone also has to come a data plan. that means spending extra money each month which i don't want to spend. however with the amount i've been talking, it will probably end up being the same. blah.

bb curve is also available on amazon for -$25. not as good as the blackjack in terms of deal but still a good deal nonetheless. however again, still need to get the data plan.

status quo - free phone, better plan, spend no extra money. but...no upgrade other than a new phone. geek genes pout.

atonement and juno

caught up on some movie watching this weekend.

loved loved loved the movie juno. ellen page didn't disappoint and it was the right mixture of comedy, multi dimensional characters, and quirkiness. i don't know why but i loved the movie's vocabulary including all the made up words. hilarity! hearing certain lines of the movie in my head just makes me laugh. "why so morose my puffy version of junebug?" hahaha

as a more serious movie, i watched atonement. i loved pride and prejudice so this movie was definitely a must see for me. the casting was perfect. i especially liked the character robby. he was also the same actor from the children of dune. i loved that mini-series on tv. as a kid, i read the dune books and watched the movie multiple times. intensity is so attractive in a person. their circumstances were heart wrenching made for a very captivating romance. however, no matter how captivating, i'm certainly glad it wasn't me.

hooray for watching movies on satellite.
