the trials and tribulations of a yogurt shop
we've operated for about a month and a half now. here are some of the things we've experienced.
hiring good people is hard. i always feel bad firing someone, but sometimes it just needs to be done because keeping the person is causing me so much trouble. sometimes people can have the best intentions and are honest and diligent, but as an employee, they just don't do things the right way and are too forgetful.
it's too easy to get caught up in the operational details and lose focus on the big picture. there are still many items that need to be completed for our transformation and there is never enough time in the day to attend to everything.
yogurt machines are complicated and tough to work with at first.
things always take longer than you think they will.
things always take longer than you think they will - that just needed to be repeated because its probably the most important.
in terms of our progress, there are many good things that have happened. we've had some really great hires that are turning out well for us. people are starting to recognize our tart flavor and will come in and immediately order tart or mango tart without even looking at the other flavors. They also immediately order a topping. slowly through word of mouth and some internet advertising people are hearing about us. lastly, i'm most thankful for my business partner. we work really well together and are normally on the same page with decision making.
as it stands right now, remodeling will have to pushed into feb because plans will not be completed in time. i wish that would happen faster...
